The Wingfield Cycle, is one of Canada's theatrical success stories. Its 2,000 plus performances since 1984, have made it one of the country's most-produced plays ever (next to Anne of Green Gables).

Now, as of Nov. 6, the fourth installment is coming to Toronto's Canadian Stage Company. Over the years this modest, comic, cycle of one-man shows about an urban stockbroker turned farmer, has played everywhere, from the Stratford Festival to local community halls.

Actor Rod Beattie speaks about Walt as a friend and says: "We had finished what was always to be a trio of plays but the characters felt we had unfairly gone on with our lives and left them behind. I thought we should do a fourth play before they really started trouble."

Fortuitously, author Dan Needles was writing a new play that he was having trouble with and Beattie felt the problem could be solved by turning it into another Wingfield play. Needles liked the idea and Wingfield Unbound was born.

The first three plays are Letter From Wingfield Farm, Wingfield's Progress and Wingfield's Folly. Canadian Stage Company: 416-368-3110 or 416-872-1111.
