The original cast album of the 1997 Broadway musical Triumph of Love is now scheduled for release Oct. 7 on JAY records.
The JAY Records recording captures the Tony-nominated performance of Betty Buckley, in particular her song "Serenity," along with performances by Susan Egan, F. Murray Abraham and other members of the original cast.
Based on the Marivaux play of the same title, Triumph of Love had music by Jeffrey Stock and lyrics by Susan Birkenhead.
The release comes nearly a year after the show opened (Oct. 23, 1997). Owing to the show's comparatively short run of two and a half months, a cast album was not expected, but producer John A. Yap said the calibre of the score and stars made it worthwhile.
