News Turner, Monk and Murray Star in Reading of Cristofer's The Whore & Mr. Moore A star-studded cast has been assembled for the reading of a new comedy by Michael Cristofer.

Tony Award Debra Monk will join veteran actor Brian Murray and stage and screen star Kathleen Turner for the reading of The Whore & Mr. Moore July 29 at the Players Club. Produced by Shotgun Productions — which bills itself as "a theatrical production company for women" — the play concerns "a down and out playwright struggling to create his final masterpiece [who] is confronted by the ghost of a mysterious madam." The reading, directed by Alex Dinelaris, is part of the company's New Playwrights Reading Series, the biannual program dedicated to developing original works. Playwright Michael Cristofer won the 1997 Pulitzer Prize and Best Play Tony Award for The Shadow Box. Debra Monk received her Tony for her performance in Redwood Curtain and was also nominated for her roles in Picnic and Steel Pier. Last on Broadway in The Crucible, Brian Murray received Tony nominations for The Little Foxes and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. Recently on Broadway as the infamous Mrs. Robinson in The Graduate, Kathleen Turner received a Tony nomination for her work in Indiscretions.
