Among those taking part in the tribute were Secretary of State John Kerry, Rep. John Lewis, actor and singer Billy Dee Williams, Tony winner Tyne Daly, jazz legend Wynton Marsalis, Grammy Award-winning musician and producer Nile Rodgers, a student from the Chicago School for the Arts and a teacher from North Atlanta High School.

"CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King, who knew Ms. Angelou for nearly three decades, also shared her thoughts on the poet's life. “She just cared about you as a human being, and I think that resonated with a lot of people,” King said. “They were inspired by her strength and her confidence.”
