UPDATE: OFF-BROADWAY
Recreation, a new play by Penn Jillette (of Penn & Teller fame), will be produced at Off Off-Broadway's Currican Theatre this fall, following a production at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
A savage comedy, Recreation explores the sinister fantasies of a strip joint patron. As James objectifies Amber, he envisions her as an aggressive career woman or a human guinea pig. Latter, as his visions evolve, he becomes the captive of desperate kidnappers. Mike Wills will direct.
Wills will also stage Hunting Humans at the Currican this season. This intense comedy, by actor-turned-playwright Richard Thompson, depicts four men who have gathered at Caesar's Palace to mourn the loss of a friend. Their emotional brutality drives a night of alcohol, gambling and murder.
Recreation runs Oct. 17 to Nov. 17. Hunting Humans will be presented from November 22 through December 21. The Currican is located at 154 West 29th Street on the second floor. For more information call (212) 736-2533. -- By Kevin W. Reardon
