The Gala — which benefits the Vineyard Theatre and its programs — will begin at 6 PM in The Rainbow Room. The Vineyard will soon announce the artists who will salute Seldes and "celebrate its theme of community spirit and neighborhood involvement by also honoring The Union Square Partnership," according to an announcement.
Seldes' six-decade-spanning career has included notable roles on the stage and screen. The actress won a Tony Award for Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance — which originated at the Vineyard. Last seen on Broadway opposite Angela Lansbury in Deuce, she has also graced the Broadway stage in Equus, Ivanov, 45 Seconds From Broadway, Father's Day, Deathtrap, Ring Round the Moon and Dinner at Eight — Tony-nominated for the latter four. Other credits include Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams and Beckett/Albee.
Previous recipients of Vineyard honors include Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights Edward Albee (Three Tall Women) and Paula Vogel (How I Learned To Drive).
Tickets for the evening at The Rainbow Room (30 Rockefeller Plaza), range from $500-$2,500 and tables from $5,000-$25,000. For reservations and more information, contact Scott Pyne at (212) 353-3366 x242 or visit vineyardtheatre.org.
