The Virginia Stage Company (VSC) and the Theatre Guild will present Jean Stapleton in Rhoda Lerman's Eleanor: Her Secret Journey Feb. 28-March 18. Considered Stapleton's second signature role, after "Edith Bunker" on television's "All in the Family," Eleanor is a portrait of the personal life and intimate experiences of Eleanor Roosevelt. The show captures the former First Lady's "conversion from the sheltered socialite to outspoken crusader for human rights."

Stapleton negotiated with VSC and the Theatre Guild to stage the production this season prior to her planned New York and London engagements with the show.

Tickets range $24-$35. The Virginia Stage Company at the Wells Theatre is located in downtown Norfolk, Va. Across from MacArthur Center on Monticello. For tickets call (757) 627-1234.
