News Wanda Sykes Is Miss Hannigan in Media Theatre's Annie, Starting Nov. 23 Comic, writer and actress Wanda Sykes plays the evil Miss Hannigan in Media Theatre's production of Annie, which plays the Pennsylvania theatre Nov. 23, 2010-Jan. 16, 2011.

Sykes will portray Hannigan Nov. 23-Dec. 12, 2010, and Jan. 12-16, 2011. Mary Martello will play the role Dec. 15, 2010-Jan. 10, 2011.

The cast also features Tori Heinlein as Annie and Paul Jackel as Daddy Warbucks.

A stand-up comic and writer, Sykes also co-starred in the sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Her other acting credits include "Back at the Barnyard," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Evan Almighty" and more. She is the winner of an American Comedy Award, a BET Comedy Award and is a multiple Emmy Award nominee.

Featuring a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, Annie is based on the famed comic-strip character who begins an orphan and ends up the daughter of a billionaire. The original Broadway production opened in April 1977 and made a star out of its first Annie, Andrea McArdle, and won a Tony for its Miss Hannigan, the late Dorothy Loudon. The show also won the Tony Award for Best Musical.

Its classic score includes such tunes as "Tomorrow," "Maybe," "Little Girls," "Easy Street" and "It's the Hard Knock Life." The Media Theatre for the Performing Arts is located at 104 East State Street in Media, PA. For tickets and more information visit mediatheatre.org.
