Cynthia Erivo, who won a Tony for her performance in the current Broadway revival of The Color Purple, performed Man of La Mancha's “The Impossible Dream” on the recent Kennedy Center Honors broadcast.

The 39th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, which were presented December 4 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC, honored Argentine pianist Martha Argerich, rock band the Eagles, screen and stage actor Al Pacino, gospel and blues singer Mavis Staples, and musician James Taylor.
