News Weaver, Lucas, Rapp to Judge Battle of the Bards Sigourney Weaver, Josh Lucas and Adam Rapp will be among the judges for the third annual Battle of the Bards. The April 21 performance at Studio Mezmor is a competition benefit for Partial Comfort Productions in which seven theatre companies each have ten days to create a one-act play.

The other judges at the event will be Flea Theater founder Jim Simpson, former ART head Robert Woodruff and Time Out NY critic David Cote. An audience favorite award will also be presented. The evening will be hosted by Tom Shillue. The theatre companies competing this year are Ma-Yi, New Georges, Vampire Cowboys, Electric Pear Productions, Resonance Ensemble and Youngblood.

Each theatre company assembles an artistic team consisting of playwright, director and actors. On April 11 each team will be given the parameters by which to write, cast and rehearse a world-premiere one-act play. The plays are performed ten days later, on April 21.
