News Well Go USA Acquires U.S. Rights to Cory Monteith Film "McCanick" Well Go USA has picked up all U.S. rights (theatrical, non-theatrical, home video, television and digital/electronic) from Bleiberg Entertainment for "McCanick," the final film with "Glee" actor Cory Monteith, which had its world premiere Sept. 9 at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival, according to Deadline.com. The company plans to release the film theatrically in 2014.

"McCanick," which also stars David Morse, Ciaran Hinds and Mike Vogel, features Monteith playing a drug-addicted criminal who is released from prison and then hunted down by a police chief over the course of a day. The film is directed by Josh C. Waller and produced by Waller, Morse and Ehud Bleiberg.

The actor, who starred as Finn Hudson on the FOX TV show "Glee," died July 13 at the age of 31. The upcoming fall episodes of "Glee" will pay tribute to Monteith. Click here for the Playbill.com Screening Room celebrating the career of Monteith. 

As previously reported, Canadian director Gia Milani received the Grolsch Film Works Discovery Award at the 2013 Toronto Film Festival for her film "All the Wrong Reasons," which also stars Monteith and made its world premiere Sept. 8.

"All the Wrong Reasons," one of the last films Monteith acted in before he died, was chosen for the award out of 27 other films in TIFF's Discovery program and was given a $10,000 cash prize.

In "All the Wrong Reasonx," Monteith plays a store manager whose wife (Karine Vanasse) struggles with posttraumatic stress disorder brought on by a family tragedy. The film shot in summer 2012 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
