Les Misérables is to welcome back Hans-Peter Janssens and Michael McCarthy to the lead roles of Jean Valjean — the noble-spirited ex-prisoner trying to make a new life for himself — and Inspector Javert, the remorselessly vindictive policeman determined to track him down and crush him.
Les Misérables has been running for 17 years, most of them at the Palace (it started life at the Barbican), and has proved to be a huge international hit.
On Dec. 2, Janssens and McCarthy reprise the roles they have played before, taking over from Michael Sterling and Jerome Pradon as Valjean and Javert, respectively.
