The Actors Fund presents a one-night benefit concert of When Pigs Fly, featuring the cast from the recently canceled production. (The Off-Broadway revival was set to open in October 2017.)
The concert, which reunites cast and creative team members, takes place April 9 at the Gerald Lynch Theatre at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street) and benefits the human services organization that helps individuals in entertainment and performing arts.
The event features Jordan Ahnquist, Taylor Crousore, Jacob Huffman, Brian Charles Rooney, and Frank Viveros. Mark Waldrop directs, with choreography by Denis Jones and costumes by Bob Mackie.
Conceived by Waldrop and the late costume designer and playwright Howard Crabtree, with music by Dick Gallagher and lyrics by Waldrop, When Pigs Fly was scheduled to play Stage42 last fall but was canceled due to a shortfall in the show’s investment.
The musical revue concerns Howard, a mad genius costume designer with Ziegfeld-sized ambitions who flunks his high-school vocational test. He puts everything he has into his one true dream: putting on a show.
