The season opener for the Vineyard Theatre has delayed its start (from the originally announced Sept. 10) "due to the need for an additional technical rehearsal," according to a release. Tina Landau directs the work that is still scheduled to officially open Sept. 30 at the Off-Broadway venue for a run through Oct. 19.
Wig Out! is "a fierce and intoxicating new play which tells of two competing drag houses, and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart," read press notes.
Erik King ("Dexter"), drag persona Daniel T. Booth (a.k.a. Sweetie), and Rebecca Naomi Jones (Passing Strange) are featured in the cast with Joshua Cruz, Glenn Davis, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland and Clifton Oliver. (King replaced the previously announced Michael Kenneth Williams who left the production for "personal reasons." Glenn Davis replaced Jas Anderson.)
The design team features James Schuette (scenic), Toni-Leslie James (costumes), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting), Robert Kaplowitz (sound) and Wendy Parson (hair, wig and make-up).
Tickets to Wig Out! at the Vineyard Theatre, 108 East 15th Street, are available by calling (212) 353-0303 or visiting vineyardtheatre.org.
