LOS ANGELES--The Welk Resort Theatre in Escondido continues its 1998 season with the Tony Award-winning The Will Rogers Follies: A Life in Revue. The show, originally directed and choreographed on Broadway by Tommy Tune, will open today (Wednesday, June 17), and run through August 29.

Inspired by the life and philosophy of raconteur and performer Will Rogers, the musical is staged as a scene from the famed Ziegfeld Follies of the 1920s, where Will Rogers actually performed.

Playing the lead role is Christian Hoff, who has performed in The Who's Tommy at the La Jolla Playhouse and on Broadway.

Local trick and fancy roping expert Tony Munoz, who has toured with singer Linda Ronstadt, will handle the roping duties.

Directing the production is director-choreographer Ray Limon. Tickets for the show, including dinner or luncheon buffet, range from $32 to $36. Matinees are Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Evening performances are Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The theatre is at 8860 Lawrence Welk Drive, Escondidio.
