Will Swenson Marc J. Franklin

Broadway favorite Will Swenson reprises his performance as Earl in the Broadway production of Waitress beginning September 12. He assumes the role from Joe Tippett, who played his final performance at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre September 10.

Swenson first played Earl opposite composer Sara Bareilles' Jenna in a limited engagement earlier this year. Prior to that, he appeared on Broadway as Javert in the 2014 revival of Les Misérables, as well as Priscilla Queen of the Desert and a Tony-nominated turn as Berger in Hair.

Waitress currently stars Betsy Wolfe (who appeared in 110 in the Shade with Swenson in 2007) as Jenna, Drew Gehling as Dr. Pomatter, Caitlin Houlahan as Dawn, Charity Angél Dawson as Becky, Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald as Ogie, Eric Anderson as Cal, and Larry Marshall as Joe.

Waitress, featuring a score by Bareilles and a book by Jessie Nelson, tells the story of an expert pie maker who dreams of escaping her abusive marriage to Earl through creatively titled baked goods—and a tryst with her doctor. The Diane Paulus-helmed production is also set to go on tour beginning in October.
