Michael Cerveris in Wintertime

Wintertime began previews Feb. 3 opened Off-Broadway, March 2. The cancellation of the extension is due to a conflict with an actor's schedule. Mee's comedy follows the story of a young man who is set to propose to his girlfriend at his family's secluded snowbound house when he finds that his mother and her French lover already occupy the cabin. Moments later, the father shows up with his boyfriend for an evening that features even more surprise guests.

Marsha Mason ("The Goodbye Girl") and Michael Cerveris (Tommy, the upcoming Assassins) starred in the co-production with New Jersey's McCarter Theatre Center (where the show recently played). Cerveris, who left to begin rehearsing Assassins, has been replaced by Paul Schoeffler.

David Schweizer directs a cast that also features Tina Benko, Brienin Bryant, T. Scott Cunningham, Carmen de Lavallade, Nicholas Hormann and Danny Mastrogiorgio. Marylouise Burke (Kimberly Akimbo) and Christopher Denham (Master Harold...) join the original McCarter cast — replacing Lola Pashalinski and McCaleb Burnett, respectively.

The design team for Wintertime will feature Andrew Lieberman (scenic), David Zinn (costume), Kevin Adams (lighting) and Eric Shim (sound).
