News World Premiere Comedy The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow Begins in CA, April 29 South Coast Repertory begins the world premiere production of Rolin Jones' The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow, April 29. The production will play the Costa Mesa, California stage through May 18 under the direction of David Chambers.

The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow focuses on a 22-year-old genius who suffers from a debilitating obsessive-compulsive disorder. The comedy finds the resourceful young woman who uses her internet-connected computer, her pizza-delivering friend and her robot replica of herself, she sets out to find her biological mother in China. The cast includes Daniel Blinkoff, Melody Butiu, JD Cullum, Linda Gehringer, April Hong and William Francis McGuire. The designer team features Christopher Barreca (set), Dunya Ramikova (costumes), Chris Parry (lighting) and David Budries (sound). Jennifer Kiger serves as dramaturg.

Jenny Chow closes out the season at SCR Julianne Argyros Stage. The larger Segerstrom Stage currently runs Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel through May 18 then concludes with Michael Healey's The Drawer Boy (May 23-June 29).
