News World Premiere of Lee's Book of Lambert Begins LaMaMa Run Feb. 13 The Book of Lambert, the new work from Tony-nominated First Breeze of Summer playwright Leslie Lee, begins its world-premiere engagement at LaMaMa e.t.c. Feb. 13.

Cyndy A. Marion directs the production, which officially opens Feb. 14 and plays a limited engagement through March 1.

The cast includes Arthur French (Dividing the Estate, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom), Gloria Sauve (Comin Uptown), Joresa Blount, Clinton Faulkner, Sadrina Johnson (Southern Promises), Heather Massie Omrae D. Smith and Howard L. Wieder (Yellow Face).

Their leader is Lambert, an African-American man who has been hurt - possibly beyond repair - by his former love, a beautiful Caucasian woman. A bright but disillusioned ex-college professor, Lambert begins writing a prophetic book on life. In an effort to guide and re-focus this wayward flock, Lambert unleashes his own identity issues while coming face to face with the demons of his past."

Designing The Book of Lambert are Andis Gjoni (set design), Russel Phillip Drapkin (lighting design), David B. Thompson (costume design), Joe Gianono (sound design) and Michael Chin (fight choreographer).
