News York Theatre's Plaid Tidings Begins Tonight Off-Broadway The York Theatre Company's production of Plaid Tidings, a special holiday edition of the long-running Off-Broadway hit Forever Plaid, begins preview performances Dec. 7.

Plaid Tidings features a book by Stuart Ross, original Forever Plaid vocal and musical arrangements by James Raitt, and vocal and musical arrangements by Raitt, Brad Ellis, Raymond Berg and David Snyder. Ross helms a cast that includes Bradley Beahen, Jose Luaces, Ciaran Mccarthy and John Michael Zuerlein.

Performances run through Dec. 27 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter’s, with an opening night scheduled for Dec. 13. 

Plaid Tidings, an Off-Broadway musical that has been performed internationally since its 1990 debut, features standards such as "Jingle Bells," "’Twuz the Night B4…," and "The Dreidel Song." The show follows four male singers who are killed in a car crash during the 1950's but return to earth for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams. According to press notes, it will also feature "audience favorites like their riotous three-minute version of “The Ed Sullivan Show”—this time featuring the Rockettes, the Chipmunks, and the Vienna Boys Choir—and a Plaid Caribbean Christmas which puts the "Day-O" in "Excelsis!"

The creative team includes James Morgan (set), Michael Magliola (lights), AJ Mattioli (production manager), Mark Martino (consultant), with Meg Friedman (production stage manager) and David Beller (assistant stage manager).
