Written by playwright Kyle Jarrow, "ZE" follows a FTM (female-to-male) teen and his family members, who experience identity crises of their own, leaving the teen to discover he might be the most well-adjusted of them all.
The show's title represents a non-gender-specific reference, like "he" or "she."
"ZE" marks the first time a transgender person would be the lead of a primetime TV show.
Jarrow's plays include Whisper House, The Consequences, Love Kills and A Very Merry Unauthorized Children's Scientology Pageant. He wrote the films "Armless" and "Saint Janet" and recently developed "Inside," a cop drama for FX with Philip Seymour Hoffman's production company, and "Nowhere," an adventure drama for MTV.
CBS TV Studios is producing "ZE."
