HIRING: Costume Shop Manager
The Barnstormers Theatre, Tamworth, NH
Dates: June 10th- September 1st, 2024 (partial availability will be considered)
Pay: $600 per week(W2), provided single room in furnished housing, and travel, additional $1000 stipend per show available if interested in design.
Due to a last minute opening, The Barnstormers Theatre is seeking individuals for employment as a Costume Shop Manager for five shows this summer:
-CAMELOT, The Small Cast Version, by Lerner & Loewe
-EDUCATING RITA, by Willy Russell
-INTO THE BREECHES!, by George Brant
-GO BACK FOR MURDER, by Agatha Christie
-PRIDE & PREJUDICE, by Kate Hamill, adapted from the novel by Jane Austen
The Costume Shop Manager works with the Costume Designer, Wardrobe Manager, and an Apprentice to handle all costume needs, fittings, load in, and support for all shows while maintaining appropriate paperwork and leading the costume shop team. We are looking for self-motivated individuals who can prioritize and execute required duties. Qualified applicants should have a strong background in costume shop management with proficiency in hand and machine stitching, costume construction techniques, tailoring, and fabrication. Applicants should be highly motivated, able to lift up to 25lbs, and ready to work in a fun and exciting environment in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire. Design opportunities with an additional stipend are available. All contracts include salary and a single room in furnished shared housing. Company Members are required to arrive fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus. Masks are encouraged in work spaces and testing may be scheduled if needed. Costume design possibilities for final 3 shows available with additional stipend per show.

Requirements:
-Interpret the script/costume design/production conversations in order to create/pull/rent/purchase costumes needed for shows, including hair and make-up, costume props, and costume pieces.
-Communicate with Stage Management about the costume needs during the rehearsal process.
-Communicate with Stage Management to schedule fittings.
-Pull and provide rehearsal items as necessary.
-Assist load in and load out of rehearsal halls and performance spaces of costume pieces.
-Modify stock items to suit the needs of a particular show.
-Maintain and inventory costume stock.
-Complete assigned work in a timely manner, with a high level of quality.
-Maintain a clean and safe work space.
-Per current AEA guidelines due to the covid-19 pandemic, proof of covid-19 vaccination will be required.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in the following areas preferred:
-Holding fittings
-Machine and hand stitching
-Cutting/draping
-Painting and distressing techniques
-Tailoring
-Maintaining costume stock and shop organization
-Creation/rental/purchase of costume pieces
-Tool maintenance
-Valid Drivers license
-Ability to maintain a positive work environment by communicating and behaving in a positive manner with all artists and staff from a variety of experience levels and backgrounds
-Ability to travel between performance, shop and rehearsal locations
