The Field, a leading nonprofit arts services organization dedicated to providing strategic services to thousands of performing and media artists in New York City and beyond, seeks a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join our team.


The Development and Executive Associate will provide integral support to the Executive Director, particularly in the areas of fundraising and Board relations. The associate is responsible for supporting individual giving, special events, grant proposals and reports, institutional reports and fundraising appeals.

Key Duties and Responsibilities


  • Assist in the development and execution of The Field’s individual giving program, including preparing impact reports, thank you notes, and cards for special occasions to foster a strong sense of community and appreciation among donors.

  • Support the design and delivery of digital fundraising communications, managing content creation, mailing list administration, and performance tracking to optimize engagement.

  • Assist with the development and execution of special events, as needed, including fundraising and stewardship events. Manage guest lists, gather and prepare registration materials, including post-event follow up and analysis.

  • Conduct prospect research on individual, foundation, and corporate donors. Aid in identifying and stewarding prospective donors.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to organize their annual gifts and individual fundraising efforts.

  • Assist in the development of project budgets and monthly revenue reconciliation with Finance.

  • Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of campaigns.

  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual fundraising reports for board and staff meetings.

  • Research and draft project overviews, briefing materials, talking points, correspondence and other materials as requested.

  • Maintain accurate donor records, updating individual records, contact preferences, and other details, as well as ensuring all staff correspondences with donors are recorded.

  • Implement a system to track the progression of development goals.

  • Support the Executive Director and Senior Leadership with other duties and administrative tasks as assigned.

Experience and Skills

The ideal candidate is very detailed, thorough, organized, deadline-oriented, and responsible. Strong writing and communication skills are a must, as is the ability to take initiative, plan ahead in coordination with organizational timelines, collaborate with colleagues, and work independently.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Technologically savvy; skilled at using a variety of computer software and platforms.

  • Ability to effectively multi-task under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver high quality work.

  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to both lead and participate in cross-organizational teams.

  • Strong creative skills with the ability to innovate.

  • Successful track record of setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice as evidenced by their own practice and growth.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Current or former working artist, or strong passion for the arts

  • Database management and software

  • Google Suite, QuickBooks, Excel familiarity

About this Position

This is a full-time, non-exempt, remote position based in New York City. The salary range for this position is $55,000-$58,000. We determine our salary ranges based on market competitiveness and internal equity for each job. The salary offered to a selected candidate will be contingent upon the candidate’s qualifications and internal equity considerations. The Field offers a competitive benefits package that includes health, dental and vision plans, vacation, holiday and sick time. The hours are generally 10am to 6pm EST Monday – Friday, with occasional night or weekend hours. A flexible working schedule can be explored for the right candidate.
