ABOUT US

Kimberly Akimbo is the story of a girl who is about to turn 16 and recently moved with her family to a new town in suburban New Jersey. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Head Carpenter is responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the carpentry department. They are responsible for the safe use and operation of all the scenic equipment on a day-to-day basis. A successful person in this position will have excellent interpersonal skills and will collaborate with all members of the company, management, and front of house staff to solve problems calmly, efficiently, and collaboratively.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Prepare weekly backstage crew rehearsal schedules in consultation with other departments and stage management. Schedules should be communicated to other Pink Contract staff members, and local crew.

- Maintain a schedule of Carpentry department pink contract staff and ensure proper coverage for all shows, work calls, and rehearsals.

- Track crew hours and provide payroll sheet to Company Management and Production Management at the end of each week.

- Prepare paperwork, and schedules for future venues, and correspond with venue representatives. Communicate advance information with other department heads as needed.

- Prepare truck schedules for each move and stay in contact with the lead driver and dispatch to ensure the calls are followed.

- Prepare carpentry work call notes list for submission to Production Management and Production Carpenter.

- Verify and help complete periodic inspection of show equipment and document as needed.

- Repair or direct the repair of scenic elements as needed. Report on inoperable items to Production Carpenter and Production Management.

- Recommend maintenance on scenery as observed during the normal operation of the show.

- Consult with management on the needs of the backstage crew for press and special events.

- Consult with Company Management about crew charges on the settlement weekly or at the end of each engagement.

- Consult with Company Management about trucking charges following show moves.

- Regularly run show cues on a deck carpenter track.

- Regular communication.

- Arrival on time and ready for work at the start of each call.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS

- Strong organizational skills.

- Excellent communication skills via email, including keeping records of emails.

- Scenic carpentry experience. Including: woodworking, metalworking, basic mechanics, fabric repairs, etc.

- Understanding of the IATSE Pink Contract rules and guidelines.

- Mastery of Microsoft Word and Excel.

- Experience working in AutoCAD.

- Theatrical rigging knowledge including counterweight. Chain Motor repair skills is a must.

- Min 2 years’ experience working on an IATSE Full Pink Contract touring show.

- Knowledge of or experience in road venues throughout the country is a plus.

SALARY & BENEFITS

This is a full-time touring position with a base weekly salary of $1,950/week.

All Overtime, 7th Day, Overages, etc. are paid on top of the base salary per the IATSE Short Engagement Touring Agreement.

All travel and housing will be per IATSE Full Pink Contract.
