DESCRIPTION

The Sharon Playhouse, the historic professional summer stock theater located in the foothills of the beautiful Berkshire Mountains, is seeking to fill the role of Production Manager for its 2024 summer season. The Sharon Playhouse offers you the opportunity to work alongside professional artists from NYC and the Tri-State area. Our upcoming MainStage season includes Rock of Ages, The Prom, Steel Magnolias, and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and our YouthStage season includes Mary Poppins Jr., As You Like It, Sharon Playhouse Stars, Willy Wonka Kids, High School Musical Jr., and Sassy Cinderella.

The Production Manager reports directly to the Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (1) Managing production staff for MainStage and YouthStage shows; (2) Serve as the liaison between the Playhouse staff, creative teams, and production staff; (3) Approve department purchasing; (4) Compile and manage budgets; (5) Tracking payroll hours; (6) Consult with Technical Director on build, load-in, strike, rentals, and crew needs; (7) Manage Apprenticeship Program; (8) Responsible for the physical execution and implementation of the directors and designers’ visions; (9) Consult with management on capital projects; (10) Coordinate with staff regarding production needs for special programming, including our annual Gala, a special reading, and our annual 10-minute new play festival Writers Playground.

Qualifications: (1) Applicants should possess a minimum of 3 years experience in technical theater, with background in production management or equivalent supervisory experience; (2) A Bachelor’s Degree in Theater, Technical Direction or Production is preferred; (3) Proven technical aptitude and demonstrated leadership and management experience; (4) Candidates must have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, excellent organizational and time-management skills, a positive attitude and a collaborative spirit; (5) Google Docs, Word processing, Excel spreadsheets, and an advanced understanding of budgeting and scheduling is required.

Dates of employment are from April 29 - October 7, 2024. Compensation: $600 per week for 24 weeks.
