GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS SOUND SUPERVISOR
Gulfshore Playhouse, a mission-driven, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Sound Supervisor.
Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. Gulfshore Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.
Gulfshore Playhouse will be opening the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space in October of 2024. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Gulfshore Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth in a collaborative and creative community.
Status: Full-time, year-round position, Overtime Exempt
Start Date: ASAP 2024
The Sound Supervisor is responsible for the implementation and augmentation of all sound elements composed, recorded, edited or enhanced while performed live. Additionally, the Sound Supervisor will oversee the sound technical staff, sound equipment and maintain and update the sound inventory of the space as well as provide audio support for each space and for special events. This position will also act as Sound Designer for Educational shows. They will also provide any necessary training to seasonal staff as well as help create and maintain a healthy and safe working environment in the space.
The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of the team. Gulfshore Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. Employee will be expected to work extended hours on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal scheduled hours.
Skills:
Audio Networking proficiency such as Dante or Q-sys
Operation and programming of Q -lab software
Operation of DAW’s
Operation of digital and analog sound consoles
Knowledge of sound system design
Operation of wireless microphone set up
Proficiency in live mixing wireless microphones
Knowledge in the use of the analog and digital sound consoles
Experience in equipment maintenance and hanging speakers and lighting instruments
Proficiency in Google Suite
Creative problem-solving
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
Ability to manage time and productivity effectively
Ability to multitask and achieve tight deadlines

Duties:
Oversee all sound elements and the realization of sound designs as envisioned by the Sound Designer, Director, and Producing Artistic Director
Coordinate all purchases, rentals, and borrows necessary for the realization of the production.
Maintain excellent communication with stage management, production staff, and artistic team throughout the production process.
Check daily stage manager rehearsal and performance reports for notes concerning sound and complete notes as necessary
Supervise/train staff with varying levels of experience
Assist with the hang, focus, troubleshooting, and strike of all sound and lighting equipment for each show in conjunction with the Lighting Supervisor
Ensure safety protocols are followed at all times
Operate within each budgetary constraints for each production and maintain an accurate account of all related expenses.
Coordinate with other production departments regarding any overlapping sound needs
Attend all necessary meetings including, but not limited to,design, production and company meetings
Act as Sound Designer for educational productions in the year.
Assist other departments as needed
Provide support for special events
Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Production

Qualifications:
5 years experience in the field
MFA or equivalent experience
Experience with professional theatre companies preferred
Sound design experience preferred
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
Ability to climb, ladders, mobile lifts, catwalks and work at heights
Ability to work overhead with heavy equipment
Ability to work in tight, enclosed spaces including ones in the air
Ability to work in dark spaces
Ability to stand for long periods of time depending on assignment
Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment
Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools
Salary range: $54,000 - $58,000 / year DOE over time exempt
