Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company is seeking a stage director and musical director for our Fall 2024 production of Iolanthe.
About Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan:
About us: The Ridgewood Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company is a nonprofit performing ensemble based in Bergen County, New Jersey that has produced full-length G&S operettas for over 85 years. Our full productions take place at the state of the art Fair Lawn Community Center, including a reduced orchestra. In addition, we take pride in making opera more accessible to the community by performing several free shows and staged concerts a year at retirement communities, in-patient facilities, and veteran residences.
Production Timeline:
Auditions will take place in early August, with rehearsals beginning in late September. Concerts will take place in late October, with 4 full performances at Fair Lawn Community Center the weekends of November 1 & 8. Rehearsals take place 2-3 evenings per week in Bergen County, NJ during the production process.
Payment:
Each director will receive a stipend of $1,500 for their work on this production. In addition, a musical director who accompanies their own rehearsals will receive an additional payment of $1,500 for this work.
