PREPARATION
Please prepare appropriate musical material of your choosing, which may be the material from The SpongeBob Musical. Actors can perform a monologue of their choosing or select a side from either show. An accompanist and reader will be provided.

Audition slots are FIVE (5) minutes long. Each actor has THREE (3) minutes to perform. Please note, reading sides from a particular show does not preclude you for consideration from the other show. Please also bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

BREAKDOWN

THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL and A YEAR WITH FROG & TOAD
Most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns. However limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.

We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities.

Rehearsals are typically Tuesday - Friday, evenings & Saturday and Sunday during the day.

Performances are typically Friday (7:30pm), Saturday (2pm & 7:30pm) & Sunday (2pm) with student matinees (10:30am) during the week (Tuesday - Friday) as scheduled. All dates are subject to change.

Those roles we’re considering youth performers for are noted. All other roles are for adult performers, ages 18+.

SEEKING:
SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: C3-B4; everyone’s favorite yellow sponge, and the hero of our story. SpongeBob knows how to maintain a positive attitude, even when a deadly volcano threatens to destroy his beloved town.

PATRICK STAR: Bb2-Bb4; well-intentioned but lacking common sense or skills; a big softie.

SANDY CHEEKS: A3-E5; a brainy and athletic Texan squirrel. She acts as SpongeBob’s most trusted ally on their quest to stop the volcano from erupting.

SQUIDWARD Q. TENTACLES: A2-F#4; a cranky, clarinet player who has a very gloomy outlook on life. He dreams of becoming a famous stage star and is willing to do just about anything to achieve his big break.

SHELDON J. PLANKTON: B2-G#4; the scheming owner of the Chum Bucket who has plans for world domination.

EUGENE H. KRABS: B2-Bb4; the greedy owner of the Krusty Krab and doting father of his only daughter, Pearl. May double as other roles, as assigned.

PEARL KRABS: Bb3-F#5; a teenage (13-17) whale who deeply detests her father’s, Mr. Krabs, greed and wants him to prioritize his family, not his profits. A huge fan of the famous rock band the Electric Skates. May double as other roles, as assigned.

KAREN THE COMPUTER: G#3-F#5; a waterproof supercomputer who is Plankton’s snarky sidekick and wife. May doubles as other roles, as assigned.

The Foley Artist Fish(es): a performer (or group of performers) who bring the world of Bikini Bottom to life through live foley sound. This could include footsteps for SpongeBob and Squidward, dings for objects appearing, whacks for hits, and so on. Previous experience with foley is not a requirement but an interest in exploring the magic of acoustic storytelling is a must!

ENSEMBLE: An ensemble of 8 to 10 will play the citizens of Bikini Bottom, a school of sardines, members of the rock band Electric Skates, theater security guards, and did we forget to mention, pirates?! Performers with strong movement skills, experience with multiple dance styles, and/or partner work experience are a plus.” Age: 12+.

All roles will be understudied. There will be no double casting of youth roles for this production.

SEEKING:
FROG: Caring and loyal. Always looking out for his friends. The calmer, more zen of both he and Toad. Simultaneously adventurous and assured.

TOAD: A hard worker, but impatient for results. Self-conscious. Stubborn. A good friend to Frog. Timid.

Performer 1: Possesses the determination of a nerdy snail and the “cool kid” attitude of a slick lizard. Appears as a Bird, Snail, Lizard, Father Frog & Mole.

Performer 2: Possesses the playful and quirky personality of a bird and strong frenetic energy of a squirrel. Appears as a Bird, Mouse, Squirrel, Young Frog, & Mole.

Performer 3: Possesses the playful quirky personality of a bird and strong frenetic energy of a squirrel. Appears as a Bird, Turtle, Squirrel, Mother Frog & Mole.

Mole Youth Ensemble: An ensemble of 8 youth performers (ages 8 to 17) to play a host of moles. We plan to cast up to 12 moles to share the 8 ensemble roles across the run of the production. AUDITIONS FOR THESE ROLES WILL HAPPEN AT A DATE/TIME TBA.
