DESCRIPTION
Our fledgling theater group is always on the lookout for potential director collaborators. Over the last two years, we've focused on staged and workshop readings of brand-new works. It's been a fruitful period, and we're eager to see who else would like to join us. We've been doing a lot of one-week Equity-style readings. This a great opportunity for someone recently out of school or an ambitious director with a passion for theater.
The ideal candidate has directing as a primary career goal. Some directorial experience is preferable, along with a general love for theater and a deep understanding of the current theater scene and theater history. This position requires in-person attendance, as our readings and rehearsals are held in person in midtown Manhattan. Therefore, candidates must be able to travel to this location easily.
Our company is dedicated to creating brand-new works, mainly comedic, with a satirical edge and a Brechtian influence. We embrace freewheeling experimentation while keeping in mind commercial viability. We've been gaining momentum over the past two years, and we're hopeful that this year and next will be pivotal. We offer directors a wide creative latitude and room to experiment and grow. Director can take part in everthing from material development, to casting, etc.
