Miller Theatre at Columbia University is an acclaimed New York City music venue and concert producer, widely celebrated for its innovative programming and its success building new audiences for the arts. For over 30 years, Miller Theatre has helped launch the careers of myriad composers and ensembles, serving as an incubator for emerging artists and a champion of those not yet well known in the United States.
We seek friendly and reliable individuals with good customer service skills to join the Usher Team for summer 2024. Shifts are typically 4 hours in length and a commitment to being available for a minimum of 4 calls per month is essential.
Key Responsibilities
· Contribute to the positive image of Miller Theatre as a welcoming and lively campus venue
· Deliver extraordinary customer service to guests, including welcoming and greeting audience members, answering questions, and assisting patrons to their seats
· Perform other front-of-house duties such as tearing or scanning tickets, distributing programs, monitoring audience activity during events, and ensuring audience safety
· Work with Miller Theatre administrative staff to monitor audience compliance with theatre rules and operating policy while maintaining Miller Theatre’s standards of customer service
· Assist in other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
· Strong interest in the arts, with a high level of energy, initiative, and creativity
· Prior customer service experience strongly preferred
· Ability to handle busy environments with poise, patience, and positive demeanor
· Comfortable interacting with a broad audience – students, faculty, and the public
Wage/Salary: $16 per hour
Schedule: Shifts based on event schedule below, with additional dates to be added. In order to be considered, must be available for the majority of the calls outlined below.
