DESCRIPTION

Theatre SilCo, a Silverthorne, Colorado-based small professional theatre, is seeking Teaching Artists for the VIVO program, a theatre based dual language after school program serving students from Kindergarten to 5th Grade. The VIVO program is held every Monday through Friday between 3:00pm-6:30pm for the 2024-2025 school year, in three public elementary schools in Summit County, Colorado. There are 8 positions available.

Job Duties
TEACHING — VIVO Teaching Artists serve as classroom teachers for our theatre based dual language after school program. The program teaches young people grades K-5 the fundamentals of theatre, music, and dance, while offering a safe and stable environment for underserved students whose parents need support outside of school hours. VIVO Teaching Artists work closely as a team and with the VIVO Arts Engagement Managing Consultant to create lesson plans and programming for students K-5 in both English and Spanish. Teaching typically takes place between 3:00pm-5:30pm every Monday through Friday. Lesson planning and prep time typically takes place between 1:30pm-3:00pm each day.
TRANSPORTATION — VIVO Teaching Artists provide transportation home from school (within school district limits) for some students, using company vehicles. Teaching Artists rotate driving responsibilities. Transportation typically takes place between 5:30pm-6:30pm every Monday through Friday, following the teaching portion of the program.
ARTS ADMINISTRATION/PRODUCTION SUPPORT — VIVO Teaching Artists assist in administrative duties for Theatre SilCo. These duties include office work (copying, filing, data entry, etc.), box office hours, production support as needed (building sets, hanging lights, stocking costumes, etc.), and support and planning of events (e.g., opening night parties). Admin and production support work typically takes place between 10:00am-12:30pm each day.
PERFORMANCE/PRODUCTION — VIVO Teaching Artists serve as Principal Actors or Crew Members for the Spring 2025 Dual Language Production. This could be a performance or production/backstage role, depending on the teaching artist’s areas of skill and/or interest. This is a fully realized production; all Summit County elementary school students are bused to the theatre to see the production. There will also be several public performances on weekends that will be free of charge and open to the public, for parents, families, and community members to attend.
