DESCRIPTION

The american vicarious seeks a highly motivated Wardrobe Supervisor with broad-based managerial skills for its upcoming world premiere production of Our American Queen, directed by Christopher McElroen.

Candidate must have problem-solving abilities, a positive attitude, and enjoy working in downtown theater. The Wardrobe Supervisor is an essential part of the production team, working closely with the Costume Designer, Director, Stage Managers and performers. Experience working with period (1880s) costumes a plus, as well as ability to sew and manage repairs.

The Wardrobe Supervisor is responsible for all wardrobe related activities during the course of a theatrical run. Specifically this position will:

Oversee all costume elements for production.

Attend fittings as necessary.

Attend all show related Production meetings as necessary.

Ensure the care and proper maintenance of all costumes. This includes proper labeling, laundry, hanging, storage, etc.

Work with actors and designers to rig technical costume elements if necessary.

Regularly inventory and inspect all costumes and coordinate maintenance/repairs.

At the end of a production run, oversee all aspects of the costume strike. Ensures all pieces are returned as necessary.

Manage use and upkeep of the dressing rooms.

Facilitate quick changes.

The production schedule (subject to change) is:

Load in June 3 - 5

Tech June 6-10

Dress rehearsal June 10

Previews June 11 - 13

Opening June 14

Closing June 29

Performance schedule:

Tues - Sat 7:30pm*

Saturdays 2pm

*Last performance Saturday June 29 at 2pm

We anticipate bringing the Wardrobe Supervisor into rehearsals the week of June 3. Production venue is The Flea Theater (the Sam) in Tribeca. The hourly rate is $28/hour.
