Conductor Josh Rosenblum leads the ensemble of ten New York City free-lance musicians, playing pieces by Gould, Bolcom, Moravec, Messiaen, Rosenblum and Shostakovich.
Rosenblum's arrangement of Danny Elfman's theme from "Tales From the Crypt" will be heard, as will Rosenblum's "Who Knows? Maybe," which was the basis for the ballet After Dark, which was performed by the Chase Brock Experience.
Starobin won the Tony Award for his orchestrations of Next to Normal and Assassins, and the 1984 Drama Desk Award for his orchestrations of Sunday in the Park With George. His credits also include Rags, A New Brain, My Favorite Year, The Glorious Ones and more.

The Pit Stop Players are Ed Matthew (clarinet), Chris Jaudes (trumpet), Dan Culpepper (horn), Robin Zeh (violin), Paul Woodiel (violin), Danielle Farina (viola), Mairi Dorman-Phaneuf (cello), Garah Landes (piano), Jeff Carney (bass), Greg Landes (percussion) and Joshua Rosenblum (piano and conductor).
Rosenblum anticipates presenting three concerts per season with the Pit Stop Players, and said that nearly any genre is fair game for their programs, including traditional and contemporary classical, jazz, rock, fusion and film music. However, the primary emphasis will be on new compositions and arrangements, written and orchestrated specifically for the group.
Rosenblum, who was trained as a classical pianist, has led the orchestras for 13 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including Wonderful Town, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Music Man, Miss Saigon and Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. He is also the composer-creator of Bush Is Bad, the Off-Broadway satirical revue, and the composer/co-lyricist of Fermat's Last Tango and Einstein's Dreams. His instrumental music has been recorded on two CDs: "Impetuosities" and "Sundry Notes," both on the Albany Records label. He teaches Composing for Musical Theater at Yale University, his alma mater.
