Following Overtime into Manhattan Theatre Club's Stage II will be three one-act plays by Terrence McNally, Joe Pintauro and Lanford Wilson titled collectively By the Sea, by the Sea, by the Beautiful Sea.Lee Brock and Mary Beth Fisher will recreate the performances they originated when the plays premiered at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor, Long Island. The men's roles are being recast. (Alec Baldwin had to bow out from one of those parts because of a filming commitment.)

Also, Valley Song, the Athol Fugard play that made a number of critics' Ten Best lists last year and was one of the most patronized of MTC's Stage II offerings, will graduate this spring to Stage I so more can see it.

Lisa Gay Hamilton will reprise her original role, but author Fugard's part will be assumed by a South African actor, in his New York debut: Marius Wyers. Valley Song will fill the May slot on the off-Broadway company's schedule previously occupied by Leslie Arayvazian's Nine Armenians, which has been pushed back to the fall.
