Jay Armstrong Johnson, who stepped into The Mad Ones at 59E59 Theaters at the final hour when Ben Fankhauser was put on vocal rest, will now stay with the Off-Broadway musical through the conclusion of its run on December 17.
Armstrong was previously scheduled to perform during the first week of previews only (November 8–12), a run which was later extended through December 3.
Newsies star Fankhauser was scheduled to return to the production December 5–17, however he remains on doctor-imposed vocal rest.
Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk’s new musical The Mad Ones—previously titled The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown—tells the story of a young woman’s coming of age.
Stephen Brackett directs a cast made up of Johnson, Krystina Alabado, Emma Hunton, and Leah Hocking.
The Mad Ones is choreographed by Alexandra Beller (Bedlam’s Sense and Sensibility), and Paul Staroba is music director. Prospect Theater produces.
