New Line Theatre will present the rock opera American Idiot, based on the Green Day album of the same name, as part of the company's 2015-16 season for four weeks in March 2016.

Auditions for American Idiot, which features orchestrations and musical arrangements by composer Tom Kitt (High Fidelity, Next to Normal, If/Then, Bring It On), will be held in June 2015.

The company previously announced that their 25th season will open in October 2015 with the regional premiere of the rock musical Heathers, based on the 1988 cult indie film.

Heathers features a book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness) and Laurence O'Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde). New Line produced Reefer Madness in 2004 and Bat Boy in 2003 and 2006.

New Line's current 2014-15 season continues in March with Jerry Springer the Opera and closes in June with the classic musical comedy satire The Threepenny Opera.
