The evenings will be hosted by Seth Rudetsky, who will interview LuPone about her career and who accompanies her on piano. Rudetsky will also present his own solo show, Deconstructing Broadway, for one performance only on June 22 at 9:30 PM London time.
LuPone has previously appeared in London with The Acting Company in The Cradle Will Rock before creating the role of Fantine in the original London cast of Les Misérables for the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican, co-produced with Cameron Mackintosh, for which she was named Best Actress in a Musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards. She subsequently created the role of Norma Desmond in the original London production of Sunset Boulevard at London's Adelphi Theatre in 1993, and played Maria Callas in the London premiere of Terrence McNally's Master Class in 1997.
LuPone is also among headliners on the 2013 Playbill Broadway On the High Seas Cruise in summer 2013.
According to press materials, this new London show will be a 75-minute combination of intimate cabaret and revealing conversation. She will sing songs from Evita that she hasn't performed live in 30 years, as well as songs from shows like Gypsy, Company and Anything Goes.
The shows are presented by Mark Cortale in association with Martin Witts for London International Arts Theatres Limited.
