A new stage adaptation of Luchino Visconti’s Obsession opened officially at London’s Barbican April 25. The production, directed by Tony winner Ivo van Hove, stars stage and screen favorite Jude Law as Gino.
The play is based on Visconti’s 1943 feature film debut, which is in turn inspired by James M. Cain’s The Postman Always Rings Twice.

Joining Law in the cast are the Dutch and British performers: Robert de Hoog, Chukwudi Iwuji, Aysha Kala, Halina Reijn, and Gijs Scholten van Aschat.
The play follows an eerily charming drifter who enters an affair with a woman before they begin to plot her husband’s murder. The production will be broadcast in U.S. movie theatres May 11.
