Composer John Kander, librettist David Thompson, director-choreographer Susan Stroman and the cast of Broadway's The Scottsboro Boys talked to Playbill.com in between rehearsals earlier this fall.

To help celebrate the Oct. 31 opening of the new musical, we've packaged together three chapters of our documentary look at the show and the artists' process. The videos ran during the previews, which began Oct. 7, offering a wide-lens look at the ambitious entertainment show that borrows a grim chapter in American justice and makes it sing and dance.

Playbill video producer Mark Ezovski, special projects associate David Gewirtzman and writer Kenneth Jones contributed to these reports.

With music and lyrics by John Kander and the late Fred Ebb, The Scottsboro Boys plays the Lyceum Theatre.
