News The Hills Are Alive Again! "The Sound of Music" Returning to Cinemas Today "The Sound of Music," the classic movie musical based on Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic Broadway musical, will return to selected cinemas nationally on April 19 and 22.

Rarely-Seen Photos From the Sound of Music Film Set and Recording Studio

The film will be screened at two cinemas in Manhattan, the Union Square Stadium 14 and the Empire 25 on 42nd Street in the theatre district.

The new print of the film will include a special introduction by Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne "that will give insight into what has made this musical one of everyone’s favorite things."

Performances are scheduled at 2 PM and 7 PM local time on both dates in all locations.

Starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the 1965 film is rated G.
