"On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received. At this time, she does remain on life support," her daughter Melissa Rivers said in a statement. "I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness, and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."

Previous reports from E!, the network that hosts Rivers' "Fashion Police," stated Sept. 2 that Rivers had been brought out of her induced coma and was making progress on a "slow" recovery.

Rivers, who was undergoing a procedure on her vocal cords at an Upper East Side clinic Aug. 28, was rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital in "cardiac and respiratory arrest" shortly after 9:30 AM, according to FDNY. Rivers was soon upgraded from critical to stable condition on Aug. 28.

"Thank you for your continued love and support," her daughter Melissa Rivers said in a statement Aug. 31. "We are keeping our fingers crossed."

Melissa Rivers issued a previous statement Aug. 29, saying her mother "would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world...her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. Rivers made her Broadway stage debut in Fun City and later was a replacement player in Neil Simon's Broadway Bound. A stand-up comic making guest-host appearances on "The Tonight Show," Rivers eventually hosted her own talk show, "The Joan Rivers Show." She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress for her work in Sally Marr...and Her Escorts — which she also co-wrote. Her most recent theatrical outing was in her autobiographical A Work in Progress by a Life in Progress. Rivers frequently performs her stand-up act at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in midtown Manhattan.
