News U.S. Premiere of I Hate F*cking Mexicans at New York City's Flea Theater Extends The U.S. premiere of Luis Enrique Gutiérrez Ortiz Monasterio's I Hate F*cking Mexicans has been given an extra month of performances at The Flea Theater in New York City. Limited performances continue through Dec. 11.

Translated by Debbie Saivetz, Ana Graham, and Danya Taymor and directed by Flea resident director Taymor, the work officially opened Oct. 18, following previews that began Oct. 9. The limited engagement was originally scheduled through Nov. 4.

I Hate F*cking Mexicans features members of The Bats and The Riot Group's Adriano Shapman. The Bats include Janice Amaya, Cristin Eve Cato, Ugo Chukwu, John Paul Harkins, Layla Khoshnoudi, Abraham Makany and Michelle Silvani.

Here's how the work is billed: "In a celebration of bigotry, a woman in a border town recounts the racial tensions that divide her community and lead to an explosive encounter. The play enters a bizarrely poetic world that is both disturbing and funny. Written by one of Mexico’s most well known playwrights, it explores the strong sentiment of fear and hatred that comes with the unknown."

The design team includes Starlet Jacobs (set), Jonathan Cottle (lights), Erica Evans (costumes) and Adriano Shaplin (sound).

The Flea is located at 41 White Street (between Church and Broadway). For more information and tickets, call (212) 352-3101 or visit TheFlea.org.
