Andy García will be among the new faces entering the ABBA-filled Mamma Mia! universe as part of the upcoming sequel, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. According to Deadline, the actor will play a new role, which is currently unknown.
Returning for the sequel are the 2008 movie’s original stars: Meryl Streep as Donna, Julie Walters as Rosie, Christine Baranski as Tanya, Amanda Seyfried as Sophie, and Dominic Cooper as Sky.
The movie, set to premiere in July 2018, will weave the present with flashbacks to provide further insight into the Sheridan family—and their many admirers.
García earned an Oscar nomination in 1991 for his performance as Vincent Mancini in The Godfather: Part III. He is also known for The Untouchables, Ocean’s Twelve, and Passengers.He joins a handful of performers who will take on new roles in the musical sequel, including Heathers and Beautiful alum Jessica Keenan Wynn, who will play a young Tanya.
