News Broadway Jesus Christ Superstar Tickets Now Available Through Audience Rewards Tickets to the Broadway revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's biblical rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar are now on sale exclusively to Audience Rewards members.

Superstar will begin Broadway previews March 1, 2012, at the Neil Simon Theatre, toward a March 22 opening. Directed by Des McAnuff, the production first played a critically acclaimed, extended run at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival. It will transfer to the La Jolla Playhouse Nov. 18-Dec. 31 prior to its Broadway arrival.

The Audience Rewards offer is available through Nov. 27. Tickets for Jesus Christ Superstar go on sale to the general public Dec. 3 via Ticketmaster.

A coalition between the Nederlander, Shubert and Jujamcyn theatre organizations, as well as theatre presenters from across the U.S., Audience Rewards allows theatre fans early access to Broadway productions. It is free to join at AudienceRewards.com.

Casting for the Broadway production has not officially been announced, though the La Jolla engagement will reunite much of the original Stratford cast, with the exception of Tony Award winner Brent Carver (Parade, Kiss of the Spider Woman), who played Pontius Pilate. Jeremy Kushnier will take on the role in La Jolla.

The La Jolla principal cast will also include Bruce Dow as King Herod, Chilina Kennedy as Mary Magdalene, Mike Nadajewski as Peter, Paul Nolan as Jesus and Josh Young as Judas, with Marcus Nance as Caiaphas, Lee Siegel as Simon Zealotes and Aaron Walpole as Annas. Dodger Properties and the Really Useful Group produce the Broadway production.

Jesus Christ Superstar has music by Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Rice. The sung-through rock work premiered on Broadway in 1971.
