The 2018 Broadway League Awards, which recognize the work of theatre industry members across the United States who help keep the show on the road for Touring Broadway productions, have been announced.
This year’s winners were announced May 16 during the Broadway League’s 2018 Spring Road Conference.
The Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to John Ballard, president of MagicSpace Entertainment, who has helped develop a Broadway touring series in over 25 markets in North America.
Additional honors were presented to John Ekeberg (Outstanding Achievement in Presenter Management); Rosalee Roberts (Outstanding Achievement in Road Marketing & Press); Tracy Butler (Outstanding Achievement in Achievement in Education and Engagement); Kathleen Maki (Outstanding Achievement in Road Group Sales); and Nancy McDaniel (George MacPherson Road Award).
State of Touring Broadway awards were presented to Alex Haunty, Delta Dental of Michigan, Don Rodman, and Winterfest, Inc.
“Broadway is a vital national industry. League members worked tirelessly this season to bring Broadway shows to over 200 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Touring Broadway contributes $3.2 billion to local economies across the U.S. Coupled with the $12.6 billion dollar economic impact for New York City, it is clear that Broadway and Touring Broadway Series create real value to our country’s economy,” said Charlotte St. Martin, president of the Broadway League, in a statement. “We couldn’t do it without the enormous support that our awardees, the donors and volunteers – both corporate and private - give to promote and enrich the Broadway Series in their hometowns.”
