Village artistic director Steve Tomkins stages the production that will play Issaquah, WA from Sept. 17-Oct. 25, prior to playing Everett, WA, Oct. 30-Nov. 22.
Matthew John Kacergis will star as Aucassin opposite Tanesha Ross (Hair, Saint Heaven) in the title role. Principal casting also features Nick DeSantis, Allan Barlow, Kate Jaeger, Eric Polani Jensen, Brian Demar Jones, Timothy McCuen Piggee, Jessica Skerritt and Matt Wolfe.
According to the Village, "This hilarious yet touching new musical charts the love between a Christian count and a Muslim princess in a time of war, hatred, and prejudice — except that the year happens to be 1224. Based on the French Romance 'Aucassin and Nicolette,' Chasing Nicolette confronts the two lovers with endlessly hysterical obstacles: angry parents, murky dungeons, swashbuckling swordplay, a man-hungry convent school graduate, and one very put-upon servant."
Chasing Nicolette has scenic design by Scott Fyfe, lighting design by Tom Sturge and costume design by Melanie Burgess.
Originally presented as part of the Village Theatre's 2008 Festival of New Musicals, Chasing Nicolette premiered at the Westport Playhouse in 2000 and later at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia in 2005. Kellogg and Friedman also staged their musical Stunt Girl for Village Theatre audiences last March. For tickets and further information visit VillageTheatre.
