News Fox Executives Reveal "Glee" Stage Musical in the Works The hit TV musical series "Glee" is in development as a stage property, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Gary Newman, chairman of 20th Century Fox Television, told reporters, "We launched a live stage business with a sold-out arena concert tour in 2011, and now a live stage musical is in the works."

Executives also stated that countries across the world were interested in creating their own series based on the franchise.

The closest brush "Glee" has had with the stage were two sold-out summer concert tours, which took place in 2010 and 2011. Cast members from the series, including Lea Michele, the late Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz and more performed.

Fox has ordered two more seasons of "Glee," which will return Sept. 26. As previously reported, the plot line of the upcoming season of "Glee" will deal directly with the struggles of drug abuse, which took the life of cast member Monteith, who died July 13 at the age of 31.
