Comedian Lewis Black returns to Broadway September 12 with a six-night stand on successive Mondays at the Marquis Theatre.

Black to the Future was originally scheduled for September 12, 19, 26 and October 10—all Monday nights when the theatre's regular tenant, On Your Feet!, is scheduled to be dark. Two additional performances were added: October 17 and 24, both of which also take place at the Marquis.

The appearances constitute the New York stop on a national tour for the comedian, who is known for his righteous shouting rages.

On his website, Black posted a statement saying, “I am going back to Broadway and I couldn't be happier. Nothing pleases me more than being able to walk to work, and I'll be just a few blocks from the magnificent Marquis Theatre where I'll be performing. As a playwright I always wanted to see my plays on Broadway; well, that didn't work out, but I am honored to be doing my stand-up there.

“As much as I travel, performing in extraordinary venues, Broadway has always been my ultimate goal. There is nothing more exciting for me. I think I bring a bit extra to those performances because Broadway demands it. So if you've been wanting to come to New York, this just may be the time to take that trip. And as long as you're considering that, you might want to join my official fan club (if you haven't already) to be assured you'll get some of the best seats in the house. The fan club was the only way to assure folks who are coming to my shows that they will have the opportunity to get those seats and the fan club is the first to have the shot at those tickets. There are other perks that will also be coming your way.

“I played Broadway just before the last election. Well this past election year was as psychotic as anyone could imagine. I can't wait to go through it all with you and, because the shows are on Mondays rather than a straight run, I'll be able to keep the show up to date. I can't wait to get mad about the madness. As someone once said, ‘You ain't seen nothing yet.’"

This is not Black's first time on Broadway. He appeared in a one-man show, Lewis Black: Running on Empty, for eight performances in 2012 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

Black appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July to offer a preview of his show:
