News Managing Maxine, With Jana Robbins, Opens at Ohio's Human Race Sept. 7 Jana Robbins returns to the title role of Janece Shaffer's tender play Managing Maxine, about finding love later in life, which officially opens Sept. 7 at the Human Race Theatre Company in Dayton, OH.

Robbins (Tale of the Allergist's Wife, 1989's Gypsy) originated the role in the 2008 world premiere of the play at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, GA. Marya Spring Cordes directs the latest production that will run through Sept. 23.

Steve Vinovich (Loose Ends, Lost in Yonkers) co-stars with Robbins in a cast that also features Kay Bosse, Tim Lile, Scott Stoney, Debra Whitfield and Michelle Zimmerman.

Here's how Managing Maxine is billed: "She's bold, yet tender. She’s brash, but sincere. And at the age of 70, Maxine Levine may have just found real love for the first time in her life. When this lively widow finds a retired, reserved judge to her liking, they each discover that when it comes to romance, everything old is new again. But the memories of past loves and current heartbreaks of their children could derail any hope of happiness these late-in-life lovebirds may have."

The production has set design by Tamara L. Honesty, costume design by David M. Covach, lighting design by John Rensel and sound design by Rich Dionne.
