News New Play Anathemaville to Get Premiere Off-Broadway Sept. 2 Anathemaville, a new play by Scott Venters, will received its world premiere at the Gene Frankel Theater in Greenwich Village on Sept. 2. Jess McLeod directs the production by The Orphanage theatre company.

In the cast are Scott Williams, Sidney Austin, Daniel Burress, Paul Case, Maria Teresa Creasey, Peter Dixon, John Ivy, Mary McKenna Evan Rapp and Carolyn Castiglia. In the play, the title town has been "slowly taken over by Über-Mart, the ever expanding pinnacle of all-in-one shopping. Ten poverty-level (and certifiably insane) employees dream the new-and-improved American Dream, relying on lies, religion, and drugs to get by. As they march to the grinding requiem of life in retail, a mysterious woman prompts our unlikely candidate for a hero (David from Über Toys) to step out of formation and launch a full scale battle to reclaim the town's identity from The Über Corporation."

The set will be designed by Nickey Frankel, costumes by Courtney Whipple, lights by Cecilia R. Durbin and sound by John D. Ivy and Jess McLeod.

Tickets are $15 and are available by logging onto Theatermania.com, by calling (212) 352-3101, or at the door the night of the show.
